Eric A. Jones, J.D., M.B.A.
Eric has extensive experience in the health care industry and has first hand knowledge of the perspectives of the provider, insurer, regulator and patient. Eric started his career by serving as an executive of a managed care company where he was responsible for provider contracting, provider appeals, and provider relations. Next, he held the position of Vice President at an Ohio hospital where he was responsible for physician and patient relations. Additionally, Eric served as the Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Managed Care for O.D.J.F.S. which his responsibilities included designing, implementing, and regulating the statewide expansion of Medicaid managed care. Eric also held the position of legal assistant to the general counsel of the Ohio State Medical Association.
Eric earned his bachelors degree from Ohio University (B.S., 1995). He continued his higher education by receiving his Masters in Business Administration and his law degree from Capital University (M.B.A., and J.D., order of curia, 1998). Eric serves as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Disability Network of Ohio (DNOS) and serves on the Community Board of COSI.
Brett E. Schmied, J.D.
Brett is as an Associate Attorney at the Law Office of Eric A. Jones, LLC. Brett’s practice focuses on representing clients in Social Security, civil and criminal cases.
Brett received his undergraduate degree from Muskingum College and his law degree from Ohio Northern University College of Law.
Sonia Walker J.D.Sonia is an Associate Attorney at the Law Office of Eric A. Jones, LLC. She began her legal career working in criminal law as an assistant prosecutor with the Franklin County Prosecutors Office. After moving on to private practice, she broadened her litigation experience to include insurance defense, discrimination, personal injury, appellate, and political subdivision liability cases. Her diverse litigation work has prepared her to handle complex as well as basic legal issues. She has also been active in her community as a member of Big/Brothers, Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity.Sonia earned her bachelors degree from Ohio University (B.S., cum laude, 1994) and her law degree from Capital University (J.D., cum laude, 1998).
Robert Flaugher, J.D.
Robert A. Flaugher, Esq. graduated from Marshall University with a B.A. and earned his J.D., cum laude, from Capital University Law School. Mr. Flaugher is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts in Ohio and West Virginia , and he has extensive experience representing creditors in the areas of consumer and commercial collections in both states. Mr. Flaugher’s area of concentration also includes the representation of businesses in general and commercial litigation matters throughout Ohio and West Virginia.
Mr. Flaugher is also a trained mediator and this training, along with his extensive litigation background, has helped him successfully mediated many civil cases in an alternative dispute resolution setting rather than the more formal and, at times, more intimidating, judicial forum. Additionally, Mr. Flaugher is an active participant in the Ohio State Bar Association; Columbus Bar Association; and West Virginia State Bar Association.
Duistin Garris, J.D.
Dustin is an Associate Attorney at the firm who graduated from Capital University Law School. Dustin represents clients in collections, civil, Sociail Security matters.
Dore R. Shafransky, DO, JD, MSBS
Dr. Dore R. Shafransky is Of Counsel with the firm and graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2006. He also earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984 and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences in 1999 from the Medical College of Ohio now called the University of Toledo Medical Center. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio in 1980. Dr. Shafransky did a residency in Internal Medicine but currently practices Emergency Medicine and has over twenty-five years of professional experience. As part of his current practice he performs consultative exams as a designated examiner for the Ohio Department of Disability Services.
Dr. Shafransky served as a Navy Flight Surgeon to a tactical air squadron during the first Gulf War and left the military after fifteen years of combined active-duty and reserve status as a full commander. His professional legal interests include: Healthcare law, Disability Insurance conflicts and Personal Injury cases. These areas of law draw both on his abilities and knowledge as a physician and an attorney. Dr. Shafransky is a member of The American Osteopathic Association, The Ohio Osteopathic Association, The Ohio State Bar Association, The Lucas County Bar Association and The Toledo Bar Association.
